Is My Dermatologist Right On Facial Skin Care?

M dermatologist told me that when the skin on our face becomes dry and flaky, we should NOT apply moisteriser as that makes the flakes of dead skin stick back down and clogs the pores. Instead, she said it is better to apply nothing to the face that night, so the skin can renew itself or to apply a very light serum. I was astonished as I thought the answer to dry flaking skin was to moisterise. Is she right or is she talking nonsense? I thought a serum moisterised anyway?

I am 25 and still have peoblems with acne. I look at my skin up close and see so many holes, whiteheads, and blackheads.I am really noticing scars lately too. My skin just looks so dull. For once I would like to have smooth, healthy looking skin. I have tried the glycolic peel, and it did help a little, but my skin still looks dull. any suggestions of what to try next? will a dermatologist help, or should i try something else such as laser tx at the spa. please help. I want to feel pretty again, and feel better about myself.

I know, it’s a product site, but both Dr. Rhodan and Dr. Fields are Stanford-trained Dermatologists. My daughter uses Pro Active Solution products and they really work. It is the only product that has ever helped her. If you haven’t tried it, try it. It’s totally different from most acne treatments…it won’t make your skin red and dry it out. All the other things my daughter tried really made her acne worse. So I am a believer in this one.
